HISTORY OF HARBOR GREENSCAPES
Harbor Greenscapes was started in 2001. It started as a maintenance company called J&L Landscape. As our knowledge and experience grew, so did the services we offered. We went from one man with a truck, a mower and an edger, mowing lawns to becoming a full service Design and Landscape Construction Company. We own our trucks, trailers and equipment, which include a mini excavator, and tracked skid steer (bob cat), a small dump truck and two support vehicles.
When we began this company, my wife Lori was working full time and we were raising 3 small children. As the kids got older and started school, I ventured out and got more work, started hiring helpers and honed my skills. Within a few years we had enough work to allow Lori to quit her fulltime job. She stayed home to be with the kids and kept the books for the business which allowed me time to pursue more jobs and grow the business.
I was lucky to have a few mentors along the way. Some were designers and others were fellow landscapers. They taught me about proper landscape design and landscape installation techniques. I was also very fortunate to have some patient and understanding customers in the beginning that would allow me to work an unusual schedule due to my being a stay at home dad. The kids are all grown up now. We have been a fulltime Landscape design and construction operation for the last 12 years.
Our specialty has been refurbishing existing yards. Maybe the old yard was installed by the builder or a previous home owner, or maybe it has just gotten tired from age or neglect. These are situations we have the most experience in. Alot of times there are items to salvage or ideas to be culled from the existing landscaping. We take all that into consideration as well as finding out how you want to use the yard. We find out if you like to tinker in the yard or if you just want it to look nice. We’ll make suggestions and give advice as needed, but in the end it will be a collaborative experience.
We look forward to working with you in making your yard just right for you.
